Review by hotel critic
Nestled in a charming locale, the Horse offers a delightful blend of culinary innovation and welcoming hospitality. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a friendly staff, setting a warm tone for my stay. The restaurant area embodies a comfortable ambiance with its stylish bar featuring a wood-burning stove and inviting cushioned window seats. The blackboard menu highlights freshly prepared dishes, which intriguingly change based on availability. During my visit, I savored the chicken pie, praised for its rich flavor, accompanied by a perfectly balanced mash and gravy. My companion opted for the steak, claiming it was faultless. While the menu is modest, each dish is a testament to quality over quantity. The bar showcases an impressive selection of well-kept ales, elevating the dining experience. Breakfast, served daily, features a delightful assortment from cereals to poached eggs, ensuring a refreshing start to the day. It captivated me not just with its culinary offerings, but also with the genuine warmth of its staff, who appeared to take pleasure in providing memorable service. A return visit is certainly on the horizon, as I continue my journey exploring gastronomic delights.
